How the guidance is maintained

Sources and updates

Clear guidance needs current evidence as well as plain language. This page explains what our dates and checks mean.

Which sources we use

For government payments we use Services Australia, DVA, DSS policy and relevant legislation. Tax and super guidance uses the relevant ATO and ASIC sources. State and territory programs use their administering agencies. Human-help referrals use the provider's own information.

Government rules are separate from provider conditions, commercial offers and advocacy views. A concession accepted by one program cannot be assumed to work elsewhere.

What a review date means

An editorial review date records checking of the public guidance against its cited evidence. An effective date describes when a rule applies. A source's update date is different again; a recently updated page can still contain an older worked example.

Dates are not a guarantee that every exception is covered. Use the current official application, your letter and specialist help for an individual matter.

Changing information and automatic checks

Our update process looks for changes in eligibility wording, contacts, forms, deadlines and figures, as well as broken links. Detected changes enter an automatic evidence-checking process before the public guidance is changed. A local drafting step reads captured source text; a separate step compares the proposed guidance with that evidence in a fresh request. Fixed content checks and website tests must also pass. These automated checks can miss an error, so the administering service remains the source for your individual situation.

A blocked page, network error or failed retrieval does not establish a policy change and does not advance an editorial review date. Successful retrieval alone does not prove that the public explanation is correct. If changed information cannot be verified promptly, affected guidance is replaced with a dated referral to the official source. Long-standing failed sources also receive this fallback rather than remaining indefinitely current.

In this release, automatic retrieval succeeded for 163 source addresses and failed for 34. These results describe fetching source pages, rather than reviewing the guidance.

Unclear boundaries

Some official wording leaves a boundary unresolved. We explain the limit and direct visitors to the administering service, rather than turning it into a guaranteed result. Sources marked “Confirmation needed” below support guidance with a relevant unresolved condition; consult the linked guide for the detail.

Help us correct a problem

Tell us the page address, the wording that appears wrong and a current official source if available. Do not include claimant documents or personal financial details. A correction message does not notify an agency or preserve a claim/review deadline.

Public source register

197 source entries support the public site. Private registration evidence and project administration records are not included. Automatic retrieval dates below come from the recorded fetch or attempt; they are separate from editorial review dates.
