Use this guide alongside the official service
Read the steps here first and keep the relevant documents or questions ready. Outside websites open in a new tab, so this guide stays here. To continue, return to the Pension Path tab or close the new tab.
If online steps are difficult, find phone, paper or in-person help.
Check that it was submitted
Look for a submission receipt or confirmation. A claim saved as a draft is not lodged. If you cannot find confirmation, check the official account or contact Centrelink.
Use the claim identifier and estimated completion date, if provided, when following up. An estimate is not a guarantee, and another person's waiting time does not predict yours.
Stay on top of tasks
- Check your myGov inbox and Centrelink claim status, or ask staff how to receive and follow paper or phone correspondence.
- Read the whole evidence request, including the due date and which household member it concerns.
- Provide the requested information through the stated official channel. Additional evidence generally needs a response within 14 days.
- Contact Centrelink promptly if you cannot obtain a document or need more time. Keep proof of what you supplied and any agreed next step.
If you are waiting longer than expected
Ask Centrelink about the status and any missing tasks using your receipt details. If you have urgent financial hardship or cannot manage the process, explain that and ask what assistance is available.
A service complaint about delay is different from a formal review of an entitlement decision. Once a decision arrives, its review route and deadlines apply; a complaint should not replace those steps.
If you need human help
Call the Older Australians line on 132 300 or ask at a service centre. Request an interpreter, relay assistance or support with inaccessible documents if needed.
If a decision is disputed, social security legal services can help. If bills or debt are urgent, financial counselling is a separate support route. Pension Path cannot see your application or escalate a private case.
Your next-step checklist
For your own notes. Ticks do not submit a claim or notify an agency.
Print or write down your steps if you prefer.
